These tapes (also known as ‘Decca Sessions’ or ‘Decca Auditions’) have been recorded to pitch The Beatles to Decca Records which rejected them. Former Beatles manager Epstein chose the repertoire of songs which contained 12 cover songs and 3 originals. Dick Rowe, former CEO of Decca Records wasn’t impressed by the quality and the song choices and signed Brian Poole & The Tremeloes from London instead.
