LP – 180 Gram Vinyl
Cookin’ with the Miracles is the second album by the legendary Motown group The Miracles, released in 1961 on the Tamla label. Featuring the soulful vocals of Smokey Robinson and co-written by Robinson and Motown founder Berry Gordy, the album blends upbeat R&B rhythms with heartfelt ballads. Highlights include charting singles like “Ain’t It Baby,” “Everybody’s Gotta Pay Some Dues,” and “Mighty Good Lovin’,” as well as the tender “Broken Hearted.” A standout moment is their jazzy rendition of the Gershwin classic “Embraceable You.” Tracks like “That’s The Way I Feel” earned broader recognition, appearing in the acclaimed 1964 film Nothing But a Man.
As the Miracles’ frontman, Smokey Robinson was a driving force behind Motown’s rise, crafting timeless hits as a singer, songwriter, and producer. He led the group from its beginnings in 1955 until 1972, later embarking on a successful solo career and serving as Motown’s vice president. A true music legend, Robinson has been honored with inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, two Hollywood Walk of Fame stars, and the prestigious Gershwin Prize for his contributions to popular music. His work with the Miracles and beyond continues to shape the sound of R&B and soul music worldwide.
