The Blues and the Abstract Truth’ was recorded and released in 1961. Interested in the afro-american roots of the Blues, Nelson recorded the album to capture the Blues feeling using different Blues progressions and rhythm changes. Often named as one of the 100 best Jazz albums it is featuring Bill Evans and Paul Chambers which recorded Davis’ ‘Kind Of Blue’ a few years earlier.
