Reflections on Bach is a collaborative project by saxophonist Nikolay Kasakov and guitarist Alexey Wagner, two musicians united by their deep admiration for Johann Sebastian Bach and their desire to explore his music from a fresh perspective.
Rather than offering a strict historical interpretation, Kasakov and Wagner approach Bach’s timeless works as living material—music that continues to inspire dialogue across centuries, genres, and instruments. Reflections on Bach is both homage and reimagination: the duo weaves together authentic Baroque spirit with modern sensibility, creating a sound world that highlights Bach’s universal beauty while also revealing surprising colors and textures.
The interplay between saxophone and guitar gives the album a distinctive voice. Each piece becomes not just a performance, but a meditation—a reflection on how Bach resonates with contemporary listeners and performers alike.
With Reflections on Bach, Nikolay Kasakov and Alexey Wagner invite audiences to experience Bach anew: familiar yet transformed, structured yet free, reverent yet imaginative.
